Desert Flowers

During my holidays i watched a film called '' Fleur du désert ''. This film really touched me.

it's a story about a somali girl, she is a model and she left Somalia really young because she didn't want to get married there.
She worked many years in England for the Somali embassy as a maid, then she worked in a fast food, that's where a famous photographer saw her.
Few years after that she became famous, she told a journalist her all story , when she was 3 years old, she get circumcision, it means they removed all the female organ.
now she defends rights of women for the ONU, it is thanks to her that the world was made aware of the practice of female circumcision.

DANGEROUS MINDS

Who doesn't want to be like a gangster at school? Who doesn't want to be respected by eveybody???
In fact we all would like to be an important charachter, and why not famous!
It's exactly it with what we are confronted in this film : a classroom of tough, sullen teenagers, all ghetos style, involved in gang warfare and drug pushing...

            dangerous.jpg

Dangerous Minds starring Michelle Pfeiffer as LouAnne Johnson was realised in 1995, in USA.
Mrs Johnson was the teacher and had to confront with this type of students, she had the courage to help them by using her own methode which consists in changing them behavior.
She just liked to teach them some principales of the work, so she tries to motivate them frist of all by giving to them chocolate for all right answer, a good grad, or teaching them karate and when she introduced peotry she used lyrics of  Bob Dylon.
They all loved her, she was the only teacher that undersood them inside. She also attracted to their personnal problems...
At the end of year Mrs Johnson anounced to them that she will not continue to teach in this school. Students were sad and refused to let her leave.

Personally i have seen this movie four faith and every time i appreciated it more than the another one...It's really a story of a charicmatic teacher. It's a very good work, Mrs Pfeiffer's role is done so well because it's always difficult to be a good teacher in a bad class.
Finally, respect to Mrs Déglise who every time understands us for example when we don't have our material .

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps

It's a film I saw, during the holidays, in the original version without knowing that was in English and not French -_-'.

So it's a very complicated story, because it speaks about economy and I think it's too hard to understand if you aren't an ecomic person (like me). The film in French it's difficult to understand so imagine when it is in English! Fortunately there were subtitles, but even that I didn't like the film, because it was too long and complicated...

So if you want to see it, take an ecomonics book and read that befor, and be sure that the movie isn't in original version, who knows maybe you will understand it better than me :).

Memento

Memento is a film of Christopher Nolan, the director of Inception. He's my favorite film-maker because all of his scenarios are strange and ambiguous. you think about it several days after seeing it.

Memento is for me the most original film of Nolan. The story is about an amnesic man, Leonard Shelby (Guy Pearce), who seeks  the murderer of his wife. But because of his brain problem, he cannot store new memories. Basic script? Wait..

"REMEMBER"

The particularity of this film is that it is filmed in reverse chronological order. So we see the film as if we were Leonard Shelby. During the viewing of the movie, we really have the feeling of being someone with memory problems, because we cannot be distracted on second, otherwise you will lose the thread of the film.

Nolan is a crazy guy, with crazy ideas, but he's terribly fascinating! I think Christopher Nolan can be, will be, or better, already is, the new pillar of the modern cinema.

60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and 2000s Madness

Last summer, "France 3" shown a suit of documentaries about the fifty last years : "60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and 2000s Madness".

Each documentary relate ten years of History. It speaks about everything ; politic, fashion, historical events, series and music. I think that that's why these documentaries are really interessant. Usually, I don't like these kind of TV programme but these ones are fascinating ! To have the opportunity of seeing pictures and videos like these is really rewarding. I had never seen pictures of the events in May 68, Michel Berger's concert, I didn't know what happened to Michel Polnareff, how began the career of Led Zeppelin or of Coluche, I learnt new things about John Kennedy's murder... It's so diversified. I could go on a long time to list all important figures of thes fifty ! There were a lot of pictures I had never seen and I learnt a lot of new things, but I think it could me more interesting for people who have live through this period. It's always funny to see old picture of one's childhood.

For me, the most interesting subject was music. I really like 60's, 70's and 80's music. Every musicians of this period were fantastic ! If I have the opportunity, I would like to go to a concert of The Beatles, The Doors, The Rollin' Stones, Queen... It's not possible but I'm always happy to see videos. What did happend in music these years is just incredible ! Rock'n'roll was really a revolution. It inspired a lot of great musicians and made evolve music. During 60's - 70's, music influenced politic too. A lot of musicians fighted for peace, significantly in Viet-Nam. Woodstock festival took during these years and that was the biggest hippy movement ever. Around 50,000 people were expected. Finally more than 450,000 people were at these big concerts. A lot of artists were present : Jimi Hendrix, Santana, the Who, Joe Cocker...

Perfume: The Story of a Murderer

I went to see this film in the cinema, it completely shocked me. I do not know if it is the cinematic effect, but in this film, I could feel and living the events as if it was me who was playing...

That is the story..

In the France of the eighteenth century, was born in 1738, Jean Baptiste Grenouille. Raised in an orphanage until the age of thirteen years, not sociable and uncouth, Grenouille has no other passion than that of smells, and every second of his life is guided by this overdeveloped sense.

Living miserably, he manages to get hired as an apprentice to Giuseppe Baldini, a master perfumer from the capital which benefits from its exceptional gift to create new fragrances.
It discovers the secrets and techniques of manufacturing perfumes. His gift allows him to compose some masterpieces olfactory but his sole obsession remained the natural odor of evanescent young women who cross his path. To this perfume bottle captivating and make his final masterpiece, he will commit the irreparable...

I advise you to see, it is a really good film.

Blue Man show

I watched the Blue Man group in Astor place Theater in New York.
The Blue Man are a group who play music with paint and they bang with sticks on drums, on boxes, on pipes, on aerials and on plenty of other objects out ouf their context

When I arrived, I thought I was sitting in a good seat where I could see well the show without getting stained by paint because the firsts rank getting paint.
But precisely I was sitting just in front of the stage, in the first rank.

It was annoying because I had to wear a poncho not to be splashed by painting
On the other hand, I had a very good view

It was a show amazing. Their synchronization was very impressive and their music was good even if they use objects as instrument

So if they pass in the area I really advise you to go to see them, you spend one good moment

Dear John

I was flying to NYC and i was wondering what film i wanted to see and i choose ''Dear John '' .
Actually i didn't even look at the summery i just choose it because all the other film they have on the plane was sh**.
It's a story about a guy name John, who is in the army because he lost his mum and his dad is sick and he didn't want to stay at home anymore. But he comes back for summer break to see his dad.
This time he met a girl ( Savannah) ...They fall madly in love, their relationship is put on hold, because John has to complete his service and Savannah has to go to the University, but they decided to stay together, they pass the time by exchanging a continuous stream of love letters, until they can be reunited permanently a year later. But when war breaks out, their separation is extended indefinitely.
They continue exchanging letters but one day Savannah stops writing him.
John didn't understand why and wasn't concentrated on the army anymore, he got shot in one of his mission and has to go back home because his dad was dying.
When he came back he saw Savannah, she was married with someone else...
Her husband was sick and she didn't have enough money to pay the treatment. John's dad died.
John and his father collected during all their life old coins. One of these worth a lot of money.
John decided to help Savannah without telling her the money came from him ..
It's not the end of the film, but I wont tell you more..

It's really a nice film, a bit sad but still cool to watch when you have free time.
